1 Month Old!!!

Kinsey's 1 month photo shoot went great!!! She is a great model for the camera. She is now more alert and loves to look around. She has discovered her voice and I think it suprises her when she makes noise. She is the best baby....no crying spells yet and she is getting the hang of trying to sleep through the night. She weighed 8lbs. 12oz. at her one month appointment. I can't believe how much she is growing already!

Our First Thanksgiving!!!

This was our first Thanksgiving since Ryan and I have been together that we haven't gone to Tennessee for Thanksgiving. We cooked our first thanksgiving dinner as a family here in Charleston. As you can see it was 70 degrees and sunny allowing Ryan to grill our turkey. People were skeptical about the grilling of the turkey, but it turned out wonderful. Of course I was the photographer so no pictures were taken of the wonderful side dishes I made- twice baked sweet potatoes, homemade dressing, brocolli casserole, etc. And of course Kinsey had to get dressed up for the occasion in her new dress!! She looked so cute. We are so thankful for our healthy new baby girl.

2 Weeks!!!

Kinsey is now 2 weeks old! She is the best baby- she hardly ever cries and loves to cuddle. Her doctor's appointment went well and she is gaining weight appropriately. We love her so much!!!

Kinsey's Arrival!!!

So here is the story of Kinsey's arrival: I started having some contractions on Wednesday Nov. 4 but didn't realize they were contractions. I was just having some back pain and decided to go to work that day. We had a doctor's appointment at 3:30 and by that time I was having back pain about every 6 minutes. I was only 1cm dilated at that time. We went home just thinking I needed to drink more water and was told to go have a nice dinner. Ryan and I got home and I finally got him to watch a movie with me to relax- however the pain was so bad by the time I got home I couldn't eat and I could only pace the living room. We figured we better call the doctor back. We made it to East Cooper at about 6pm and I was contracting regularly and had dilated to 4cm. This was it!!!! The first thing was to get my epidural- a true life saver!!! I progressed quickly to 8 cm by about 10pm and we thought she would be here before midnight--- however, she was stuck on my pelvis and did not want to come down. Luckily I had a great nurse that can make any delivering woman avoid a c-section. A little after 5 am I started pushing- Kinsey was delivered at 6:03am on Nov. 5, 2009. She weighed 6lb 14 oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long. To my suprise she had a full head of dark hair and was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen.

Like Mother, Like Daughter

My security blanket when I was a baby/toddler was a little pillow that was given to me at the hospital just after I was born (2 months premature I might add). I still have the pillow and decided to try to replicate one for Kinsey. Needless to say it was my first attempt at sewing...Ryan calls it "perfectly imperfect".

36 Weeks!!

We had a doctor's appointment last week (we'll now be going weekly) - No signs of baby Kinsey coming soon. I have devoloped something called PUPPS and I am very itchy. For those of you that have heard of this the only way to get rid of it is to deliver. But Kinsey is worth all the itching in the world as long as she is healthy.

35 weeks!!

So I am getting bigger every day! Ryan and I can't wait to meet Kinsey. We have had our maternity pictures taken. We want to thank Ashley and Adam Bode for such a fun day of taking pictures. They turned out wonderful and I will post more when they are complete.

I just wanted to thank everyone involved in throwing us such a wonderful baby shower! Kinsey is lucky to have such a loving family. The food was great, the games were fun, and seeing family was the best thing I could have asked for. We also wanted to thank all guests for coming and the nice gifts for our new baby girl. We had the room reveal at the shower, but I am adding some last minute decorations before it is complete. Thanks to Chris for my new found interest in mod podge! More belly shots and room pictures are to come.
